LCTA
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2010, the Lugano Commodity Trading Association (LCTA) is a non-profit organization and the leading hub in Southern Switzerland for commodity trading companies and the many players in the commodities ecosystem, such as shipping companies, surveyors, logistic service providers, banks active in commodity trade finance as well as insurance companies, auditors, trustees and other service providers.
Our members are Swiss-based legal entities with a business connection to the Canton of Ticino or the surrounding regions.
We are headquartered in Lugano and capitalize on the strategic geographical advantage of Ticino, which is located on the Rotterdam-Genoa corridor and is in close proximity to two of the most dynamic and resilient economic areas, Milan/Lombardy and Zurich. Additionally, we leverage Switzerland’s core strengths: these consist of an unparalleled level of political and economic stability, a robust infrastructure, a sophisticated financing system, favorable fiscal policies, a long tradition in commodity trading, a diversified multilingual environment, an unrivaled quality of life, and access to a pool of top talents.
LCTA is a nonprofit organization established in Lugano in 2010. It comprises 50 members, including key players in the commodities trading sector and its ecosystem. Ticino serves as significant global hub for the trading of ferrous and nonferrous metals, especially gold and steel, along with coal, coke, natural gas, and electricity.
